I have experienced it so many times myself.
I used to tell myself: “There’s no way I could do that”, “There’s no opportunity open for me”, “Me? Never”.
And they are such horrible things to tell yourself.
We blame our inability to act on outer factors just so that we wouldn’t have to face the truth that we haven’t done anything towards our desires. Facing the negative truth is hard and even though harmful in the long run, our natural reaction to block it is not all bad. It’s our own brilliant parachute to soften the drop to reality.
But even with that, we shouldn’t forever live amidst self-denial and self-lies just to protect ourselves from the initial hit to the ground. Going on and wasting our opportunities by making excuses kills our natural inner confidence in ourselves. By claiming that something outside ourselves is prohibiting us do something slowly depletes our belief in our own choice to shape our destiny.
More often than not, our excuses about doing or not doing something aren’t anywhere near the truth. There is never a right or wrong time to do any single thing. There’s just our time we have, and our decisions we make during it. The circumstances are never an impassable obstacle. There are no instances without opportunities, or the opportunity to create one.
